Match Preview: Olympiakos v Panathinaikos

The Derby of the Eternal Enemies is back, and so too are the Greek playoffs, as the biggest rivals in Greek football go head to head.

Although Olympiakos sit 17 points clear at the top, the importance of this game is still significant. Pana are still behind the top 3, but need results in order to push for a spot, whilst Olympiakos want to secure the league as soon as possible.

The last time Panathinaikos won this fixture was in 2017, with Olympiakos stealing the 3 points last time out. Panathinaikos away have been shambles, not winning since the 26th of January.

Panathinaikos have won 2 and drawn 3 out of their last 5 games and are on an unbeaten run, after a lacklustre regular season. This is in contrast to Olympiakos who have yet to lose a season in the season, and are undefeated in their last 5 games.

The battle of the Golden Boot continues, as El Arabi sits at the top with 18 goals and Macheda of Panathinaikos sits second with 13 goals. Ultimately, they will both want to score to ensure that they can win the Golden Boot. A huge boost for Olympiakos as Fortounis is back into action.

What’s a derby without goals? The last time the derby finished goalless was back in 2009, so expect nothing less than entertainment, end to end football and most importantly, GOALS!
