Cyprus’ best have more success as they progress!
Both Apollon and APOEL, two of the biggest clubs in Cyprus endured wins to cement their spots into the next round of UEFA Europa League qualifying.
Apollon destroyed Georgian side Saburtalo Tbilisi in Nicosia, with a promising result of 5-1. Not only did the away side have 10 men, they also only bolstered 4 shots, compared to Apollon’s 18. Apollon had 8 shots on target as well. A hat-trick by Dabo summed up the victory for Apollon who progress to the next qualifying stage.
APOEL travelled to Kosovo to face Gjilani. The home side only had 3 shots. APOEL had 13 shots with 7 on target. An unfortunate penalty miss for APOEL resulted in an extra time push to give them the victory. Goals from club veteran Efrem and new signing Ndongala gave APOEL the win, and brings them further to another Europa League campaign. APOEL’s undefeated run continues, as they have not lost since their exit from the Europa League against Basel in February.
