Cj McCollum Traded To New Orleans After 9 Years With the Trail Blazers
Cj McCollum was drafted 10th in the 2013 draft by the Blazers, and have kept the guard ever since, until 9 years later he would get flipped to the New Orleans Pelicans. McCollum is part of a trade which sends him, Larry Nance Junior and Tony Snell to the Pelicans. The Blazers receive Josh Hart, Tomas Satoransky, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Didi Louzada, a 2022 protected first round pick and 2 future second-round picks. The core for the Blazers is to build around Damian Lillard in order to keep the 6x NBA all-star at bay with the club, who is onboard with the idea.
McCollum is averaging 20.5 points this season, Larry Nance Junior is averaging 6.9 points per game and Snell, known for his 3 point versatility has struggled with a downfall of 32% this season from 56.9% last season.
This trade marks the end of an era of the Lillard and McCollum backcourt, an era that has helped the team make the playoffs ever since McCollum got drafted.
Lillard is out indefinitely after receiving abdominal surgery in January.
